I can't help it, I'm immature. These animals come from big families in nature, they are much more active and happy when they have a friend of their own kind to live with, especially if they have chosen their friend and they bond well.
Using the vinegar solution once a week each time you fully clean the cage may help eliminate odors and remove buildup that water can't.. We also had ferrets, and I wouldn't recommend going that route for a first pet choice: The Professional Guide for Nannies.
And as they get older, they will need to have their anal sacs cleaned out, which also isn't a pleasant odor. Later in the evening, Rocky especially smelled like cilantro.
