It is commonly sprinkled onto dishes near the end of cooking in order to preserve its unique flavor. I make this same blend from a recipe I got from an Indian Cook Book around 20-25 years ago.
The perfectly ripe ones even bruise at too heavy a human touch.

Store in a sealed jar for up to six months. It overpowered all other flavours in my final dish. Back to garam masala, the flavorful and complex spice blend.

This is a highly aromatic seasoning that works nicely as an all-purpose Indian blend for seasoning everything from lamb, pork and goat to fresh fish, vegetables and potatoes.
